5 Disadvantages of Getting A Hunchback
Hunchback is often embarrassing, but the hunchback is not only detrimental to the appearance, but it can also cause multiple hazards to health. There are five disadvantages of getting a hunchback.
It Causes Faster Heartbeat and Palpitation
In general, a person’s thoracic cavity height is about 20 to 25 cm, which is about 8 to 10 inches. However, if a person gets a hunchback, the cervical vertebra changes. The height of the thoracic cavity would reduce by 3 to 5 cm and sternum sinks depending on the situation. While the heart is in the sternum, this leads heart is not able to fully expand under the compression and the amount of blood discharge reduces. In order to get enough nutrients, the heartbeats are faster and flusteredness follows up.
It Impairs Heart & Lung Functions
Just as mentioned above, hunchback changes body shape and causes the deformation of the thoracic cavity. Since the volume of the thoracic cavity is getting less, the range of respiratory activity is compressed. At the same time, the vital capacity of the lungs and breathing is less and less. This also explains why elderly people have limited intensity and frequency comparing to young people at exercising or other activities.
It May Cause Constipation
Humpbacks can affect digestion. Due to the changes in the abdominal cavity, constipation is another symptom you may experience. If it is in severe, humpback could cause visceral displacement and blood circulation.
It May Cause Neck, Shoulder, back & Sternal Pain
If a person gets kyphosis, muscles on the neck and chest tense, muscles are stretching and humping. Therefore, while sitting or standing for a little longer time, it would be sore or painful on the waist, legs, and even the lower back pain.
It May Cause Dizziness & Numbness in Arms
This relates to the curvature of the cervical spine. While the curvature getting smaller, it is forced to pass through the vertebral artery between the cervical vertebrae. Because of the lack of blood flow, it causes dizziness and numbness. If the symptom getting worse in a severe condition, it would cause the insufficient blood supply to the brain.

People may get a hunchback starting when we are young and bother entire life. It is mainly caused by incorrect sitting and standing postures. It would impair the heart and lung functions and faster your heartbeat. We need to get rid of it as early as we can. If you get it already, it is time to consider to reverse it.
